The consideration of Edges as a unique quality in the visual world is a relatively new thing. While we’re nowhere near Da Vinci’s intellectual capacity (at least not me), we’ve come a long way as artists, so I don’t mind being so bold. Yes, I realize that I just inferred a way for Leonardo Da Vinci to improve his painting. However, something that Mr Da Vinci did not make use of is the management of Edges and if he did, I believe that the Mona Lisa would elicit a lot less of the often remarked: “Well, it’s smaller than I thought.” We can all learn a lot from studying his insightful and subconsciously manipulative paintings.
